Mandatory Evacuation, August 27, 8:00 pm

Important message from the Upper Makefield Emergency Management Team:

 The National Weather Service is predicting that Hurricane Irene will impact the Upper Makefield area starting late Saturday night, August 27, 2011. This will cause high winds and heavy rain, possibly causing downed trees, power outages and access problems throughout Sunday, followed by Delaware River flooding starting on Sunday evening. At this time Upper Makefield Township is under an Emergency Disaster Declaration and Mandating an Evacuation of the following areas by 8 o’clock PM on Saturday August 27th, 2011: River Road from Mt. Eyre Road to Jonathon Way, Spring Court, Maple Shade, Oakdale, Cross Street, West Street, Gilbert Street, Swayze Avenue, Cox Avenue, Washington Avenue, Wilke Street, Lafayette Place, Bunker Hill Drive, Embarcation Drive, Park Place, Overlook Avenue and Riverview Avenue. Any residents with medical needs that will require a shelter are asked to contact the Upper Makefield Township Building at 215-968-3340 on Saturday after 7 o’clock pm. All residents are asked to continue to monitor media outlets and Upper Makefield cable access channel and website, www.uppermakefield.org , for future updates.
