Storm Update - August 29 - 4:00 pm

Electric Outages

Upper Makefield Township sustained significant tree damage as a result of Hurrican Irene.  A majority of township residents lost power during the storm and many remain without power.  The township Emergency Management Team is in communication with PECO to advocate for the residents of Upper Makefield Township.  Please see below our most recent update from PECO:

  • Storm clean up continues throughout the township.  PECO hopes to have power restored to 90% of Bucks County by Wednesday evening, August 31.  Customers on circuits serving a small number of people, however, may not have service restored until midnight on Saturday, September 3.
  • By calling PECO at 1-800-841-4141, customers may be able to obtain more detailed information about their expected restoration time.

Flooding

Flooding along the Delaware River was minimal as the Delaware River crested at 16.1 ft. at 2:00 pm today. The Hurricane Irene mandatory evacuation for residents living near the river is canceled as of 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 30, 2011.

Storm Damage

If you experienced any storm-related property damage, please notify the township by calling 215-968-3340 by 4:30 pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.

Road Closures

Most of River Road in the township is closed as a result of flooding conditions.

A number of township roads have been blocked by fallen trees.  Township crews worked to remove all trees that were not associated with electric lines.  Those roads that remain closed must be cleared by PECO crews as they are related to downed electric wires.

PECO crews are currently working along Woodhill Road where four poles were damaged by trees.  Woodhill Road will remain closed until at least Tuesday afternoon, August 30 while crews continue their work.

Other roads impacted by electric line damage include:  Aqueduct, Buckmanville, Eagle Road (over Jericho Mountain), Stoneybrook, Taylorsville, and Thompson Mill.
